Djibril Sidibe has to do more to earn permanent Everton deal

Djibril Sidibe has shown glimpses of his quality since his move to Everton in the summer, but surely has to step it up if he wants to earn a permanent move.

The 27-year-old joined on a season-long loan from Monaco and the Toffees have the option to buy him permanently next summer ().

After being patient in the opening months of the season, he’s broken into Marco Silva’s XI and managed two assists in seven appearances across all competition so far.

He’s an attack-minded defender that looks a threat when he goes forward, but has at times been caught out with his back to goal.

The Frenchman is doing enough to keep club captain Seamus Coleman out of the team for now and the side’s results have improved since his introduction.

But it looks like he may need to do more to earn a move to Merseyside permanently, as Jonjoe Kenny is currently impressing out on loan from Everton and looks a potential option for Silva.

Kenny is someone who has come through the academy ranks at Everton and has played 40 games at senior level for his boyhood club.

The 22-year-old right-back left in the summer on loan to join German top-flight club Schalke and he’s been a real success so far.

He’s started every Bundesliga game this campaign for them, scoring one goal and chipping in with two assists.

With Kenny due to return next summer, it begs the question of whether or not the Toffees would need to sign Sidibe.

If Sidibe wants a long-term future with Everton, he needs to play out of his skin this season and make it impossible for the club not to activate the clause to buy him.
