‘Disgusting’… Tim Sherwood says one Tottenham player made a ‘shocking’ mistake last night

Tim Sherwood has had a go at Yves Bissouma after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was shown a red card against Nottingham Forest last night.

Spurs are back on track now and have won back-to-back games in the Premier League. Goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski got them the three points last night, but Bissouma’s terrible tackle could cost Tottenham dearly in the coming weeks.

Tottenham were cruising last night after going two goals up, but Yves Bissouma’s red card forced them to work a lot harder than they otherwise should have had to.

The Mali international lunged in and caught Ryan Yates high on his knee. It really was a poor challenge and the Nottingham Forest man is lucky it didn’t lead to anything serious.

The referee took his time but then rightly gave Bissouma his marching orders. The 27-year-old will now be suspended for four games, which is a big blow for Spurs.

Speaking about the incident, Sherwood said on : “This is poor. This is an absolutely disgusting tackle.

“He loses control of it and he just tries to hurt Yates there. Yates does well to jump up but that is straight-legged and it’s a leg breaker. I’m not sure why the referee took so long to give the red card because it’s clear and obvious it’s a dangerous tackle. Shocking tackle!”

The Tottenham games Yves Bissouma will miss due to suspension

A straight red card gets you a three-game suspension, but because Yves Bissouma was sent off for the second time this season last night, he will be banned for four games.

The Mali international will now not be available for Tottenham‘s tricky Premier League fixtures against Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth. He will also miss Spurs’ FA Cup clash against Burnley next month.

That, however, is not all. Bissouma is expected to travel back home to Mali to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations.

Even if Mali get knocked out in the group stages, their final game in the competition will be on the 24th of January. That means Bissouma’s next Premier League appearance will only be in February, which means Spurs will have to do without him for at least six weeks.
