‘Disaster’… William Gallas has spotted a big problem with Arsenal’s William Saliba

William Gallas has just made a very controversial claim about William Saliba that Arsenal fans will not be happy with.

The Frenchman was a part of the Gunners side that crashed out of the Champions League this week after a defeat against Bayern Munich in Germany.

Saliba was one Arsenal player who was very brave and tried to have a big impact in the game, but sadly, it wasn’t enough to see his side go through to the next round of the competition.

Now, Gallas has had his say on Saliba, and his comments will anger a few supporters.

William Gallas makes controversial claim about Arsenal’s William Saliba

Arsenal signed William Saliba in the summer of 2019, but it was only in the opening game of last season that he made his debut.

The Frenchman has been incredible for the Gunners since.

Saliba, still only 23, is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and perhaps even in Europe, and every top team in the world would try to sign him if he became available.

William Gallas, a centre-back himself, has now had his say on Saliba, and he has made a very controversial claim about the Arsenal man.

The former Tottenham defender, while discussing Saliba’s role in the France national team at the moment, explained why he thinks the 23-year-old is not good enough to start.

Gallas suggested that both Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano are better than Saliba, but that’s not all he said – he went on to claim that the Gunners defender can be a ‘disaster’ sometimes, which is just a bit silly in our opinion.

Speaking to , Gallas said: “Unfortunately, it’s difficult for William Saliba to be in the starting XI because you have Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool and Dayot Upamecano from Bayern, and sometimes Saliba can be magnificent, but sometimes he can be a disaster as he’s not consistent.

“That’s why it’s a big problem for Didier Deschamps to know exactly who is going to be the number one, or the partnership at centre-back!

“For every other country, Saliba would probably walk into the XI with ease, but with France, it’s different and that is very tough for him – especially as they have been so successful in recent years. We have some great young centre-backs in the French team, that’s for sure.”

William Saliba’s current transfer value compared to Konate and Upamecano

William Gallas saying William Saliba ‘can be a disaster’ really is a laughable claim.

Yes, the Frenchman has made mistakes over the last two years – much fewer than most other centre-backs in the Premier League – but he has never had a disastrous game in an Arsenal shirt.

have a tool that shows you the current value of players, and when you filter it to defenders in Europe’s top-five leagues, there’s only one winner.

Saliba is currently the most valuable defender in Europe and is worth a staggering £85.5 million.

The two players who Gallas suggested are better – Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano – are worth £68 million and £51 million respectively.

Upamecano isn’t even the first-choice centre-back at his club – he’s behind Eric Dier of all people at Bayern Munich.
