that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur attacker Gareth Bale is “not happy” in North London and questioned the player’s desire to turn things around, after a disappointing return to North London.
Bale, 31, returned to Spurs in the summer on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. The deal is believed to include the option for a second loan spell at Tottenham – which would take him until June 2022 when his Madrid contract expires.
But will it get to that stage? The 83-time Wales international has managed just 15 appearances and only started 10 of those – two in the Premier League. In those games, he has hit the back of the net four times, but has come in for criticism.
A slower, fatigued-looking Bale is far from the exciting, explosive talent that starred at Spurs before leaving for Madrid. Kuyt has questioned whether he is happy at Spurs – and suggested the ex-Southampton man lacks the desire to improve his form.
“I don’t know what’s happening with the Gareth Bale situation,” . “Because when you look at him, he doesn’t look very happy but in my opinion, Spurs is his team. He played there for many, many years – before going to Real Madrid.
“He did some great things over there. He had the chance to come back to Spurs, but he is not playing games. I am really wondering what is up with Gareth Bale at the moment, he can still be a great player. Does he really want it?”

Realistically, Bale is going to play the best of 30 matches this season, with Jose Mourinho’s me still fighting on all four fronts. As Europe returns and the FA Cup campaign continues, Bale is going to get plenty of game time.
What he needs to do, is shine in Cup competitions – score plenty of goals and convince Mourinho to give him another Premier League start. He needs to show work rate, grit and the quality Spurs fans know he has.
