Director says agreement is in place with Arsenal over signing ‘outstanding’ Gunners player
Arsenal have been relatively quiet in the opening weeks of the summer transfer window, but now things appear to be picking up pace.
For instance, the Gunners are said to be making good progress in pursuit of Italy international Riccardo Calafiori.
David Raya has also signed permanently for Arsenal, a formality in wake of his successful loan spell from Brentford.
The Gunners are also likely to be busy on the outgoing front over the coming weeks, with several players appearing surplus to requirements.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has relayed an update from the director of an overseas club relating to an Arsenal fringe player who could soon leave.

Lazio director says agreement in place with Arsenal over Nuno Tavares
The player in question is Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares, who has spent the last two seasons away on loan.
Lazio director Angelo Fabiani has said, as per Romano’s tweet: “We want Nuno Tavares and there’s an agreement with Arsenal.
“We now need to agree on personal terms with Nuno’s agents but I’m very confident, we have very good chances to sign him”.
‘Here we go’ may not be far away
Tavares is back at Arsenal after spending the 2023/24 season at fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
The 24-year-old was also away on loan during the 2022/23 campaign , plying his trade for French outfit Marseille.
Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica three years ago for a reported £8million fee, but he has made just 28 appearances in all competitions.
Igor Tudor – who managed Tavares at Marseille – sung the player’s praises in 2023.
He said: “Nuno’s still a young player but he has fantastic physical capabilities. He’s got an outstanding ability to run.
“He could play at Real, at Barcelona, at Man City… he still needs to grow and progress, we talk a lot to him.”
However, Tavares simply hasn’t kicked on at Arsenal, and it doesn’t look as though he has a future at N5.
Hopefully it won’t be long before this move gets the “here we go” rubber-stamp.
