Director admits his ‘elite’ £20m player could leave amid Aston Villa and Arsenal interest
Aston Villa and Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to increase their strength in depth this season.
Both teams are still on course for silverware this term – Aston Villa are in the FA Cup semi-finals, while Arsenal are in the last four of the Champions League.
The Villans and the Gunners are also on course to finish in the Premier League’s top five, which would see them qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Now, the director of a club whose player is wanted by both Villa and Arsenal has admitted that the “elite” talent could be on the move at the end of the season.

Rosenborg director Micke Dorsin says his club will be ‘paid well’ as Sverre Nypan wanted by Aston Villa and Arsenal
The player in question is Sverre Nypan, the next Norwegian wonderkid who could potentially follow compatriots Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland to the Premier League.
Arsenal were confident of signing Nypan in January, but the Rosenborg prodigy opted to delay his decision after talking with a number of clubs.
Aston Villa have since moved into pole position for Nypan, who could command a fee of less than £20million according to TBR Football sources.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Villa are closing in on a deal for Nypan, after which they would talk with Rosenborg.
Aston Villa director Monchi was in Oslo to watch the 18-year-old in action against Valerenga, as reported by .
The Norwegian outlet spoke to Rosenborg sporting director Micke Dorsin, who showed him images of Monchi in the stands.
“Yes, I know who it is,” said Dorsin.
“I think there are many clubs in place today that are looking at many players. Among others Sverre. It’s good for everyone and for Norwegian football.
“Yes, it should be. [Nypan] has been good for many years and looks so young. We will be paid well, and I think everyone knows that.”
What Sverre Nypan could bring to the Premier League
Nypan only turned 18 a few months ago, but he has already made 64 appearances for Rosenborg, registering an impressive 14 goals and 11 assists.
He is a technically gifted player with an impressive football IQ and whose abilities to pass and carry the ball, as well as creating chances and scoring goals, are at a very high level.
Nypan’s talent and potential has seen him earn comparisons with Odegaard, one of the most exciting wonderkids of his day, and now fulfilling his potential at Arsenal.
“Sverre Nypan is extremely exciting, and I get a bit of the same feeling as when I saw Martin Odegaard break through as a boy,” Norwegian football expert Jesper Mathisen told in August 2023.
Meanwhile, journalist Steve Kay has described Nypan as an “elite” talent.
