‘Direct contacts started’: Romano says CL club are ‘seriously interested’ in ‘exceptional’ Aston Villa star

🌠Atletico Madrid are ‘seriously interested’ in signing Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash in the summer.
⭕That’s according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who revealed in a tweet last night that Atleti boss Diego Simeone highly appreciates the 24-year-old Poland international.
🌌Atletico Madrid, who have qualified for the next round of the Champions League, lost Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United in the January transfer window. The Englishman was their number one right-back and his departure has created a void in that position at the Wanda Metropolitano.
💙Simeone wants to fill that void in the summer and Cash is very high on his wish list.
♚Atletico Madrid are seriously interested in Matty Cash
𝓰Cash has been absolutely brilliant for Villa since he joined them from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020.
𒁏He has played 24 times in all competitions this season and has impressed. Branded as ‘‘ by Trevor Sinclair, it was always only a matter of time before Cash would move on to a bigger club, but nobody would’ve expected Atletico Madrid to come in.
꧑Romano reveals that direct contacts to sign Cash began in January but a deal could not be done. However, Atleti are ‘seriously interested’ in signing him and he will be on their list of targets to replace Trippier in the summer transfer window.
꧅“Atletico Madrid are seriously interested in signing Matty Cash for next season. Direct contacts started in January and he’s still in Atléti list as potential new right-back for Diego Simeone, highly appreciated. Cash will be in Atletico list again for sure,” said Romano in a tweet.

♛Since his move from Forest 18 months ago, Cash has played 51 games for Aston Villa in all competitions and he has almost always impressed.
🏅His stock has gone up considerably since the start of last season and he has the potential to become a top-class full-back under a manager like Diego Simeone. Still only 24, Cash will only get better in the coming years.
🌸The Slough-born defender’s current contract does not expire until the summer of 2025. That puts Villa in a really strong position in potential negotiations and it will be interesting to see how much they’ll demand if Atletico Madrid come in for him in the summer.
