Dimitar Berbatov has urged Harry Kane to consider Tottenham exit

that Harry Kane finally needs to consider leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer – and that could see the England skipper follow Berbatov in moving to Manchester United.

Kane, 26, told Jamie Redknapp on Instagram over the weekend that he would be open to leaving Spurs if he does not feel Jose Mourinho’s side are heading in the right direction. Last season’s Champions League finalists currently sit in eighth place.

The England captain has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, and certainly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in need of a striker – despite the form of January recruit Odion Ighalo.

“If you’re at a club where you haven’t won anything then you have to decide whether the most important thing is to help them succeed,” Berbatov said. “Or you have to decide to go somewhere you are more likely to win medals.

“For Kane it’s very difficult because he’s a Spurs fan. There’s speculation that Kane might benefit from a change of club. As somebody who made a big move, I can tell that only the player knows what his priorities are.”

TBR’s view – Mourinho deserves pre-season before Kane makes decision

That is what the England skipper hinted he would do this summer. Mourinho joined midway through the season and had an instant impact in the January market – securing a permanent deal for Gio Lo Celso and landing Steven Bergwijn.

Berbatov is right – Kane needs to consider an exit. But the England ace must do so in the summer of 2021, in order to give serial trophy-winner Mourinho a chance. Otherwise, Kane will leave thinking, what if.
