Dietmar Hamann says 26-year-old is not good enough for Liverpool
Dietmar Hamann has launched a stinging attack on Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita,
Keita, 26, has started the last couple of games for Liverpool – impressing against Watford on Saturday. He started on Tuesday against Atletico.
The Guinea star scored Liverpool’s second, crashing a right-footed volley into the back of the net. He scored one against Crystal Palace this term, too.
But Keita was poor, overall. The midfielder was to blame for both goals, making a mistake in the lead up to both – proving too ineffective and weak.
He allowed Thomas Lemar to stride into the penalty area before pulling the ball back. Then, Joao Felix turned him easily, feeding Antoine Griezmann.
Despite his goal, Jurgen Klopp was unsympathetic – hooking Keita off at half-time. Hamann does not believe he is good enough for Liverpool.

“He is simply not good enough for Liverpool, he will never make it as a Liverpool player,” “He wants to play with the ball.
“But he’s not good enough to play with it. If you are in midfield you have got to do two jobs, attack and defend. Defensively he doesn’t do his job.”
Hamann on Keita: Liverpool man does need a move, next summer
While Hamann’s criticism is somewhat harsh, there is some truth in it. The ex-Leipzig ace is good going forward, against a side Liverpool dominate.
Bottom-half Premier League sides, he is good. But when it comes to playing against a side as good as the Reds, Keita lacks the defensive know how.
Harvey Elliott will return, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is looking sharp when given the chance and a new signing could easily be made in midfield.
When everyone is fit, Keita is struggling to get on the bench. Next summer, he should really consider a move away from Anfield if clubs are keen.
