Why Diego Simeone could help Tottenham or Arsenal in pursuit of Everton star- TBR View
Everton are reportedly interested in raiding Atletico Madrid this summer to sign right-back Santiago Arias – and Diego Simeone sanctioning such a move could help both Tottenham and Arsenal in a reported pursuit of their own.
that Everton want to sign 28-year-old Arias, with the 53-time Colombia international dropping to third choice in Simeone’s right-back pecking order – behind Sime Vrsaljko and Kieran Trippier.
Such a move would see director of football Marcel Brands sign Arias for a second time, after luring the South American flyer to The Netherlands back in 2013 from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. Now, a move to the Premier League is on the horizon.
That is despite Everton hardly being in need of a right-back. Seamus Coleman remains at the club, while Djibril Sidibe is on loan from Monaco and the Toffees boast the option of making a deal permanent – one they could take as he remains first choice.

Cuco Martina is expected to leave, while Jonjoe Kenny is shining in Germany while on loan with Bundesliga side Schalke. But with Coleman still at the top level and the potential signing of Arias, Everton will be well stocked at right-back.
The chances if Kenny coming back as first-choice is unlikely, then. The 23-year-old has gained admirers from the Premier League after starting all but two of Schalke’s Bundesliga outings, and has even had a hand in four goals.
both Tottenham and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Kenny’s impressive performances in Germany, and could look to bring the English ace to north London in the upcoming summer transfer window.
So, if Everton are to lure Arias to Goodison Park this summer – surely there is no room for Kenny at Everton, thus improving Tottenham and Arsenal’s chances of landing the right-back, if indeed the north London duo look to sign him.
