Diego Llorente says Leeds have a superb 21-year-old with such a high ceiling

Leeds United defender Diego Llorente has waxed lyrical about Illan Meslier, in conversation with .

The 21-year-old has made a huge name for himself since arriving at Elland Road from French club Lorient in 2019.

Meslier initially joined the Whites on loan before signing permanently in summer 2020 for a reported £5million.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa was so impressed with the Frenchman that he made him the youngest first-choice keeper in the Premier League.

And Meslier hasn’t disappointed, developing into a keeper worthy of being first-choice for a top-flight team.

A combination of absences at the back and Leeds’ attacking style of play means the Frenchman has been really busy this term, but he’s certainly been delivering.

And Llorente singled Meslier out for praise, tipping him to improve so much more as well.

“He’s a very young goalkeeper but he has very good skills with his hands and also with the ball at his feet,” the Spaniard.

“I’m happy because he’s in our team. I think he can improve a lot and he can help in many games.”

Leeds are next in Premier League action on Saturday when they head to Southampton.
