Diego Godin’s previous comments suggest reported Jose Mourinho fury never happened
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to make a move for Inter Milan defender Diego Godin in the summer. that the Uruguayan could leave Inter Milan in the summer and that Spurs are hoping to make a move for the player.
But the news has made waves considering the player’s previous with Jose Mourinho. In the summer of 2018, that Mourinho was left fuming with Godin’s agent regarding a failed £18 million move to Old Trafford, where the Special One was, at the time, manager.
The claim was that Godin’s agent had used a potential move to United as leverage to get a new deal for Godin at former club Atletico Madrid.

It was then reported Godin had indeed signed a new lucrative deal with Los Colchoneros, keeping him at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2021,
It’s a good story, but it doesn’t add up.
Godin never signed this new deal. His deal expired in 2019 which allowed him to head to Serie A for nothing last summer.
Indeed, Godin even rubbished the reports of his agent using United to earn him a new deal. As , Godin simply decided he wanted to remain in Madrid for the time being due to ‘personal reasons’.
“I have not renewed. I have had offers, although I have decided to stay for personal reasons and I am only thinking about the (Super Cup) final.
“But I have not extended my contract. I saw that news came out but I do not know where it came from.”
There was no new contract, no playing of Mourinho. Instead, Godin simply decided he wanted to remain at Atletico.
So if Mourinho wants Godin again at Tottenham Hotspur, it appears there is no bad blood to stop a deal going ahead.
