‘Didn’t happen before’: Arteta says he has noticed something about Arsenal for the very first time
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faced the media today ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Gunners’ 10-game unbeaten run came to an end at Anfield against Liverpool. Arsenal looked decent for most of the first half, but Jurgen Klopp’s men took it up a gear and smashed four past the visitors.
This is the second time already this season that Arsenal have conceded more than three goals in a game in the Premier League. They bounced back once, but can they do it again?
Arteta believes so and he has claimed that he saw something right after the game at Anfield that he has never seen before at Arsenal.

In his press conference this morning, Arteta was asked if he had seen a reaction from his players after the hammering at Anfield.
He said, as per : “Not only there (in training), I really liked the reaction that we had already in the dressing room at Anfield after the game. How some players took leadership and described what happened in a really honest way, and looked forward.
“This is not something that in a season it will never be like this, there are always bumps in the road, there are results, there are injuries, there are issues you have to deal with and I really like how the team has reacted through the week.
“This is something that didn’t happen before, and I am really pleased it is happening at the moment.”

If there’s one thing that Arsenal are constantly criticised about, it’s their lack of leadership. That has been a concern for the Gunners for about a decade now, but if Arteta’s comments are anything to go by, things are changing.
Arsenal’s squad is the youngest in the Premier League at the moment. It was always unlikely that they would go to Anfield and beat Liverpool, but the way they played for the first 40 minutes is a positive to take.
Arteta would’ve known right after the game that the gap between the Gunners and Liverpool is huge at the moment. However, if they can bounce back as they did after losing 5-0 to Manchester City earlier in the season, they have a very real chance of finishing in the top four.
