‘Determined to leave’: £15m player now snubs new contract after claims Everton want to sign him – journalist

claims that Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz has now snubbed a new contract, after claims Everton want to sign him.

Reports suggested last week that Everton have set their sights on Brereton Diaz, with Blackburn thought to be demanding around £15m for their player.

And the Toffees have been on the lookout for a striker after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sidelined at the beginning of the season.

Frank Lampard will be keen to bolster his attacking options, especially after losing Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

And it seems that one of their targets is determined to force a move before the window shuts.

But the 23-year-old has no intention of signing a new contract, regardless of how much money he is offered.

The Chile international is determined to leave the Championship side and only has one year left on his current deal.

Brereton Diaz scored 22 goals in the Championship last season and has already opened his account during the current campaign.

Reports have suggested that scouts from top Premier League sides have doubts over his ability to play in the Premier League. But Brereton Diaz has enjoyed a real breakthrough year at Blackburn.

The striker made his debut for Chile in last year’s Copa America and has been in brilliant goal-scoring form over the past 18 months.

Lampard will be desperate to sign a new striker before the window shuts. The Toffees’ lack of options in the position has been on display after Calvert-Lewin’s injury.

The English boss has been forced to play a winger in Anthony Gordon up front and Salomon Rondon hasn’t found any form since joining on a free transfer last summer. 

Brereton Diaz could be a brilliant option for the Toffees, especially with just a year left on his current deal. And as the player seemingly has no intention of putting pen to paper, he could be available at a cheap price.
