Details emerge on deal which saw 23-year-old leave Arsenal

A report from has revealed the finer details of the deal which will see Dinos Mavropanos leave Arsenal.

The Gunners loaned out the centre-back to Stuttgart during the summer. He has initially joined for the 2021/22 campaign, although his locker at the Emirates Stadium will remain empty.

It has now been confirmed that the Bundesliga outfit are obliged to sign the youngster for £2.5 million at the end of his current loan.

There is a situation where Arsenal could end up with Mavropanos back, although it’s very unlikely.

If Stuttgart are relegated from the Bundesliga they won’t have to sign the defender. Given their strong start to the season, however, relegation doesn’t seem realistic.

Mavropanos actually netted at the weekend. His goal against Hoffenheim was his second of the campaign and he’s clearly enjoying his football.

The 23-year-old made just eight appearances for the Gunners and never really got a proper chance to shine.

He has five caps for Greece and is now proving a point to Arsenal with his current Bundesliga form.

Have Arsenal missed a trick over Mavropanos?

David Luiz left the club in the summer, whilst Ben White was added as a ball-playing central defender.

He has looked pretty good since checking in and the Gunners did keep a third clean sheet of the season at the weekend.

Arsenal perhaps could have given Mavropanos more of a chance. He never convinced Mikel Arteta though and getting £2.5 million for him wouldn’t be the worst deal ever.

On current form, few can argue with Arteta’s decision. After a tricky start, the Gunners do look settled at the back, with the talented Rob Holding currently in reserve.

Only time will tell if Mavropanos is one that got away from Arsenal. With that in mind, supporters will continue to monitor his progress with intrigue.
