‘Desperate to leave’: Sky pundit predicts ‘plenty of clubs’ will line up to sign Arsenal 29-year-old
Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith has claimed that Bernd Leno will be desperate to leave Arsenal after losing his number one spot to Aaron Ramsdale.
The German was Arsenal’s undisputed number one until the end of August. Nobody thought he’d be replaced this season, but after conceding nine goals in just three Premier League games, Mikel Arteta wanted a change in goal.
In came summer signing Aaron Ramsdale and the Englishman has been incredible. The 23-year-old is yet to lose a game in Arsenal’s colours and he is undoubtedly Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper now.
That leaves Leno in a very difficult position. The German, 29 already, is at the stage of his career where he needs to play regularly. That won’t be possible at Arsenal with the way Ramsdale is playing now, which is why Smith believes that he’ll be desperate to leave the club.

He said about Leno on : “He’ll be down. He’ll be desperate to leave the club
“He’s an experienced keeper. He won’t want to be a number two for any longer than he needs to be. But he can’t go knocking on the manager’s door because Ramsdale has done so well. He is a big personality and he has pulled off some great saves.
“For Bernd Leno, there will be plenty of clubs after him, if he becomes a man available.”

Leno is a brilliant goalkeeper. He has saved Arsenal on multiple occasions over the last three years and he is capable of doing a good job for most clubs in the world.
Unfortunately for him, his time at Arsenal is coming to an end. There’s no way he will be able to displace Ramsdale in the coming weeks. His only chance of game time will be in the cup games, which is not enough for a player of his quality.
That makes the January transfer window the perfect time for him to look elsewhere. The best thing for him will be to move to a club where he will be the undisputed number one, and as Smith said, there will be many teams willing to give him that role.
