Dermot Gallagher shares whether Slobodan Rubezic should have been red-carded after his challenge against Celtic

Celtic’s win over Aberdeen yesterday afternoon had one contentious flashpoint that has been looked at by every supporter since the final whistle blew.

The challenge by Slobodan Rubeciz on Kyogo Furuhashi has lit up the notice ꦿboards with the majority 🅷of the Celtic fans (and pundits to be fair) claiming that the Dons defender should have seen red.

At first glance, the challenge looks reckl𓄧ess and dangerous but that doesn’t seem to be the view of former FIFA referee, Dermot Gallagher.

Gallagher was appearing on 🅰Sky Sports’ Ref Watch when he delivered this verdict on the challenge made by the Montenegro inteꦕrnational.

Gallagher 𒈔said [], “Well, I don’t think it’s a red card. I don’t think it’s a red card at all. It’s unfortunate because I think it’s a clash of heads.

“It does [make it look worse] but I certainly don’t it’s a red card at all but it’s forced Kyogo t💯o go off, unfortunately.”

I have to say, that’s quite the take by Gallagher. Looking at the challenge in real time it looked like the A🅷berdeen defender was out of control when he made the challenge.

Not only did he get the ball 𝐆but he took Kyogo clean out as the Celtic striker appeared to be knocked uncܫonscious immediately after the challenge.

TBR Celtic told last night how Kyogo reacted towards Rubezic as he was subbed off and viewing the footage again൲, I completely understand why.

It was a horrendous challenge by the player and one that should have received a much harsher punishment than the yel🐬low card that was meted out by the match official, Willie Collum.

Hopefully, there won’t be any lasting damag🐼e but Kyogo does now miss out on ✃international duty with Japan as he stays in Glasgow to be monitored over the two-week break.
