Derek McInnes lauds Leeds loanee Ryan Edmondson after Aberdeen bow
Derek McInnes has suggested, , that Aberdeen are delighted to have Ryan Edmondson, and insisted that the Leeds United loanee has plenty of potential.
Edmondson made his debut for the Dons at the weekend following his move from Elland Road. McInnes’s side were ultimately beaten 1-0 by Rangers, but the forward’s cameo was lauded by the Aberdeen fans on social media.

Edmondson will be looking to catch the eye of Marcelo Bielsa ahead of his scheduled return in January.
And McInnes has backed the 19-year-old to make an impact during his time at Pittodrie.

“When there was a possibility of Sam [Cosgrove] going to France, Ryan was one of the players we looked at as a potential replacement,” he said, .
“He scores goals, he is very highly thought of at Leeds.
“We are delighted to get him, he is young, he is raw at times, but he does have potential and he gives us something a wee bit different.”
TBR View: Edmondson faces tough task, but Aberdeen platform could be perfect
Edmondson could arguably do with an impressive loan spell. He struggled to force his way into Bielsa’s plans and missed a lot of under-23 football last term due to injury.
He had been lethal for Leeds’s youngsters before being sidelined. And Bielsa admitted, , that he had not seen Edmondson train better than in the session which ultimately led to his long-term injury.
So there looks to be a real opportunity for Edmondson to impress while he is away.
It is going to be tougher with Leeds now in the Premier League. But McInnes’s comments suggest the teenager will have the platform to prove himself to his parent club.
