Derek McInnes disappointed with Rangers and Celtic over 23-year-old midfielder
Derek McInnes has told the that Celtic and Rangers have disappointed him. He claims that both Old Firm giants should have snapped up St Johnstone star Ali McCann ahead of his move to England on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder joined Preston North End for a fee in the region of £1 mil▨lion. He helped St Johnstone win both domestic cup compet🦄itions last season and boasts the experience of playing in European qualifiers.
McCann has six caps for Norther✅n Ireland and has grown as a player over the last 12 months. In total, he made 93 appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit.
McInnes isn’t impressed though. He’s disappointed that Scottish football hﷺas lost such a great talent. At 21, he believes that both Celtic and Rangers could have easily picked up McCann🍨 during the summer.
: “Preston have got a steal. He is a res💝ponsible midfielder, a real competitor who knows his job and he’s good on the ball.
“McCann will deal with England just fine. I am just disappointed that he’s not stayed 𒈔in the Scottish league. He would have been an easy one for Celtic or Rangers to take this summer🧔.”
Will Celtic and Rangers rue McCann decision?
When any player leaves the Scottish Premiership to go and play for an 🧸English club, the Old Firm will certainly be intrigued. Celtic and Rangers could in theory take the Bayern Munich strategy of merely poaching other clubs’ top players.
In the case of McCann, they chose not to. There is a reason to suggest t🥃hat maybe Celtic could have welcomed the in♊ternational. The Hoops are perhaps light in midfield and at £1 million he’d have been good value for money.
Rangers are well-stocked in midfield. Still, given the bargain price he might have made for a sound inveᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚstment for the future for Steven Ger🍸rard.
Now, both clubs willღ have sit back and probably watch his valuation soaಞr in England. Rangers and Celtic might have missed a trick and time will tell whether this goes down as a transfer error.
