Derby fans celebrate ‘immense’ performance from star as they avoid relegation

Derby Co꧙unty avoided relegation on a thrilling final day of the Champio🥀nship league season – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were left celebrating the performance of their star man Martyn Waghorn.

Derby’s 3-3 dra♛w at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon was ultimately e♚nough to keep them in the division for another year.

Meanwhile, Wycombe Wanderers, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday were the clubs relegated to L𝔍eague🎉 One.

Rotherham conceded an 88th minute goal in their 1-1 draw with Cardiff City to see safety slip through their fingers when they were so close. That left a straight race between Derby and Wednesday, with the hosts securing the draꦜw to spark wild celebrations.

A selection of Derby fans on social media unsurprisingly💧 picked out Waghorn as their hero.

The 31-year-old st𒀰riker scored two, as well as assisting Patrick Roberts in the second half, to be the ꦉmatch-winner for the Rams.

Derby would’ve been relegated if it were not for Waghorn’s converted penalty in the 78th minute to make the scoreline 3-3🎉, which ultimately proved to be enough for Wayne Rooney’s outfit.

Waghorn had scored just three league goals this season goin𓆏g into the weekend, but his two-goal heroics will be remembered for aꦑ long time.

Here are some Rams fans hailing the lཧeft-footed forward🌊:
