‘Delighted’: Steven Gerrard insists there’s one Aston Villa player he couldn’t be any happier with after last night’s draw
Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has told that he couldn’t be any happier with Ashley Young after last night’s draw with Nottingham Forest.
Villa found themselves behind inside the first 15 minutes of the game at the City Ground last night. Emmanuel Dennis put Steve Cooper’s side ahead as he continued his brilliant scoring form against Villa.
But Gerrard’s men weren’t behind for long as Young latched onto a headed clearance and scored with a stunning long-range effort.
Despite coming towards the end of his career at 37-years-old, Young has been one of Villa’s better performers in recent weeks and helped turn out some improved results.
Gerrard says he couldn’t be happier with the former Manchester United man and has praised his leadership qualities.

Gerrard couldn’t be happier with Young
after the 1-1 draw with Forest, Gerrard was full of praise of Young.
“It doesn’t matter where he plays or the job you ask him to do, he’s all in,” he said.
“I can’t be any happier with him from an individual point of view. I’m sure the fans are delighted with him, he’s really leading and pushing the team.
“He needs to keep helping us push players to demand more from them, because we have the names, quality and ability in the final third.”

Young has now forced his way into the Villa side after starting in each of their last three games.
The experienced full-back completed a switch back to Villa Park from Inter Milan last summer but had mainly been used as a squad player over the past year.
Villa are now unbeaten in their last four Premier League games, giving Gerrard some much-needed breathing space.
The Villains have only picked up one win in this period but are certainly looking like a tougher side to play against right now. Young’s experience will be vital for Gerrard’s men and it’s no coincidence that they have started to gain form as he’s come back into the side.
