Dele Alli provides honest verdict on Nuno’s start to life at Tottenham

Dele Alli has had his say on Nuno’s start at Tottenham.

In an interview in Sunday’s matchday programme, Dele gave his honest verdict on how the Portuguese manager has begun life at the club.

After speaking on a range of things, Dele had this to say on his manager ():

“He’s done a brilliant job. We all came into training for pre-season not knowing exactly what to expect with a new manager coming in.”

“Normally, when a new manager arrives, it’s exciting, but it’s usually off the back of a bad run of form or the team not doing well.”

“It gives the team a boost and it’s a new way of thinking, of looking at the game, different tactics.”

“He’s steadied the ship though and at the same time, he’s got a clear way forward.”

“We worked hard in pre-season and things are going well.”

“It’s still very early on, he’s done a great job so far, but it’s a long season, so we have to keep on improving.”

It seems that Nuno still has work to do on steadying the ship.

He may have started fantastically with three 1-0 league wins, but things have gone awry.

Back-to-back 3-0 defeats to Crystal Palace and Chelsea have left the Lilywhites struggling.

Dele is now playing as an 8 as opposed to as a 10 under Nuno.

The 8 position is a familiar one for the player, but so far he’s yet to really convince from the deeper starting point.

Things will no doubt click for Nuno at some point and Dele clearly backs him to make the necessary changes.

Until Spurs are playing consistent attacking football, though, the fans won’t be fully convinced.

With Arsenal coming up on Sunday, Nuno and Dele have a chance to show the fans what they can do.
