‘Definitely worried’: Micah Richards changes his mind about Leeds after spotting something very concerning
Pundit Micah Richards is worried about Leeds’ prospects in the relegation battle after Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Manchester City.
Leeds have conceded eleven goals without reply to Pep Guardiola’s table topping side in their two league meetings this season.
Wins for Burnley and Everton this weekend have also sharpened the relegation peril that Leeds find themselves in now.
Richards was asked for his prognosis on Leeds’ relegation hopes on and said he is worried about the Whites for the first time this season now.
“Definitely worried,” said Richards when asked about Leeds and the relegation battle.
“[Liam] Cooper being out is massive for them. They’ve conceded the most now and it’s poor when you’re up against Man City, at least from set pieces.
“If they pick you apart you hold your hands up, but the sloppy goals they are conceding off set pieces. [Stuart] Dallas as well is a massive, massive miss. He can play in any position.
“After having a couple of games with Marsch where it looked like they were back on track they have sort of fell back into their old traps a little bit, the way they were defending against City.
“I just don’t like the way they are conceding goals, it’s too much at the moment. This is the only time I’ve been worried for Leeds.”
Leeds remain in real relegation danger
Everton have a game in hand on Leeds and could put them into the relegation zone if they win it because they are only two points adrift now.
Burnley’s transformation after sacking Sean Dyche has come from nowhere, because many observers thought they were down when they made that late managerial change.
It could come down to a fight between Leeds and Frank Lampard, just as it did in the 2018/19 Championship play-offs, after the Spygate scandal.
That only adds to the drama and Leeds need to recover their confidence after a thrashing at the hands of one of the best sides in the world.
