‘Definitely’: James Garner says there’s a player at Everton he really wants to learn from
Everton midfielder James Garner has said he really wants to learn from new teammate Idrissa Gueye.
The 21-year-old made his second appearance of the season since joining from Manchester United.
He played the final 23 minutes for the Toffees, replacing Gueye in the centre of midfield.
Spurs were already 1-0 up, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg doubled the home side’s advantage in the final few minutes.

Garner was tidy on the ball against Spurs, without being able to make a massive impact.
He found a teammate with every pass he attempted, and made one tackle and interception.
However, despite Frank Lampard bringing on two strikers alongside Garner, Everton failed to have a shot in the second-half.
Garner has admitted he wants to learn from Gueye, as the two players battle for the same spot in Lampard’s starting line-up.
Garner wants to learn from Gueye
Speaking after the match, Garner was very complimentary about the Senegalese international.
Garner admitted that the experiences he’s had playing abroad and with some of the world’s best players make Gueye a good player to learn from.
“He’s definitely a player that you can learn from, the experience that he’s got, the players that he’s played with, the leagues and competitions that he’s played in, the Champions League and whatnot,”
“He’s definitely a player to look up to, he has helped me, and I’m just hoping to learn some more.
“(Gueye can pass on) Knowledge, words of wisdom in a sense, he’s been there and done that and he’s played at the highest level and still is, and like I said he’s played with some of the best players in the world.
“He can help me massively.”

Garner has already been impressing his manager in training, and a first start for the club isn’t far away.
There an understanding at Everton that Garner has a lot of potential for the future, but can contribute in the short-term too.
His successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest gives Everton fans a taste of what he can do.
Garner is tenacious in the middle of the park, but also very creative and pops up in the box too.
His 12 goal contribution in the Championship last season show he can offer more going forward than Gueye.
Amadou Onana and Gueye have already formed a strong partnership, but Garner could soon disrupt that.
