Defensive frailties mean Arsenal must pursue Upamecano in January
As many predicted, Arsenal have been shaky at the back so far this season.
The Gunners invested heavily in Nicolas Pepe to beef up their attack, and brought in David Luiz and Kieran Tierney to help shore things up at the back.

Tierney is yet to appear for his new club, with his return scheduled for October, but Brazilian Luiz has struggled so far.
The former Chelsea man has made a number of errors, and his partnership with Sokratis has been unconvincing.
The Greece international has been just as poor as Luiz but hasn’t really come in for the same criticism, perhaps due to the spotlight being on the South American as a new signing.
Sokratis was part of a Greek defence on Sunday that conceded to Liechtenstein – a team that had not scored in Euro 2020 qualifying up until that point.

The 31-year-old was horribly outpaced for the goal and his limitations were again laid bare.
Things aren’t looking great for Arsenal from a defensive standpoint, and the club should definitely be looking to sign Dayot Upamecano in January.
TBR’s view
The RB Leipzig defender was linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, but was ultimately too expensive for the Gunners, who were apparently quoted his release clause of £92 million ().

Arsenal had offered £55 million for the French starlet.
Arsenal need to find a way of making a deal for one of the most talented young defenders in Europe happen, as he could be an amazing acquisition with William Saliba to come in next season of course.
With Luiz having only just signed, selling Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi could be a way of raising funds to put towards a deal.
