Declan Rice praises West Ham teammate Arthur Masuaku on Instagram
West Ham recorded a routine win over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup second round, which prompted Declan Rice to praise teammate Arthur Masuaku on Instagram for his performance.
After the disappointment of an opening day defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League, the Hammers managed to bounce back with a 3-0 victory against League One opponents Charlton in the cup competition.
French striker Sebastien Haller scored two quick-fire goals in the first-half which should give him some confidence moving forward, while winger Felipe Anderson netted late in the contest too.
Masuaku was left out of the squad for the first game of the league season, but manager David Moyes gave him the full 90 minutes against Charlton.
The 26-year-old left-back put in an eye-catching display that saw him threaten massively in attack and link up well with winger Anderson.
He posted on his his delight after progressing to the next round of the cup and midfielder Rice responded.
TBR’s View:
Moyes understandably gave chances to a number of players that didn’t start the defeat to Newcastle and there were a fair few that should be knocking on the manager’s door asking to start the next fixture against Arsenal at the weekend.
Aaron Cresswell appears to have possession of the left-back jersey at present, but Masuaku offers a much great attacking threat than his teammate and looked extremely assured against Charlton.
It’s not the strongest area of the pitch for the Hammers, but speedster Masuaku has surely earned the right to try nail down a spot in the XI.
