Dean Smith makes worrying claim concerning Aston Villa star Morgan Sanson

Dean Smith has issued a concerning Morgan Sanson – but offered slightly more positive news on Trezeguet.

But they also suffered another setback against Liverpool last time out. Trezeguet looked visibly upset as he left the field with a knee injury. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that he is set to be sidelined for some time.

Smith has now been able to issue a slightly more encouraging update on the winger. However, the news on Sanson was less positive.

The Frenchman did not feature at Anfield. Smith suggested ahead of that game that he was being rested after taking a knock (via ).

But it appears that he has not made the progress Villa hoped for ahead of the upcoming clash with Manchester City.

“We’ve also got Trezeguet who had a nasty knee injury last week and he’s going to be out for a significant time now. He’s had an operation that was successful,” .

“Morgan Sanson’s got a knee injury as well, so we’re not too sure how long he’ll be out.”

It has been a tough start to life for Sanson with the Villans. He has certainly struggled to live up to the £16 million fee Villa parted with in January (via ).

Having said that, Sanson can take heart from a number of his teammates as he looks to get his spell at Villa Park properly going.

Several signings made ahead of the club’s Premier League return struggled in their first year. However, some have been revelations this season. So there is every reason to believe that Sanson can bounce back from a difficult start.
