Dean Saunders says Liverpool should have considered Wayne Rooney before Derby switch
Ex-Liverpool player Dean Saunders has told that Jurgen Klopp should have controversially tried to sign Wayne Rooney.
The pundit made the claim on
A former Everton and Manchester United striker, Rooney has this afternoon signed for Derby County. A deal to become the player-coach at Pride Park will begin in January and has been
Saunders, however, believes that Liverpool should have been interested in his services.

Klopp’s team have only added goalkeeper Adrian to their senior ranks so far this summer and the ex-Reds striker fancied Rooney to do a job for Klopp.
“He can still do a job in the Premier League, definitely, yeah.
“I was even thinking, it crossed my mind, if he’s fit and he’s hungry, you who need that type of player. Liverpool.
“They could do with a player who can play in midfield and turn defence into attack, hit defence-splitting passes and score goals.”
Saunders caused quite a stir in the studio with that comment and he did concede that he was pushing the boundaries somewhat.
“Obviously Rooney probably wouldn’t get in Liverpool’s team, but he could definitely play for other Premier League teams, maybe mid-table; he’d get in Crystal Palace’s team, he could get in Aston Villa’s team.”
TBR Verdict
Dean Saunders is once again talking complete and utter nonsense.
Had nobody in the studio made a fuss about his Liverpool opinion, he wouldn’t have backed down, he’d have stuck to the principle that he thinks Wayne Rooney could have done a job for Liverpool.

The all-time leading goalscorer for England is a massive coup for Derby.
Saunders does typically spout some nonsense but this is stupid even by his standards.
Rooney probably only had 18-months left playing football and his foray to the MLS it’s clear that his legs would clearly stop him from making an impact at a top-six outfit.
