Dean Ashton names two players who could have improved Arsenal’s defence
Former West Ham United striker Dean Ashton has become the latest pundit to tear into Arsenal’s dodgy defence.
in the build-up to Monday night’s clash between the two sides in the Premier League.

Both teams go into the game in rotten form, with Arsenal winless in nine and West Ham having won just once in their last 10.
Other results have seen the Gunners actually slip into the bottom half of the table, with the defence making life very difficult for the team to pick up positive results.
Arsenal signed David Luiz in the summer, but the Brazilian has proven to be a disaster, and Ashton offered two names the club ‘should’ have.

He said: “They should have Gary Cahill and Jonny Evans at the heart of their defence – that would make such a difference with them being available over the past couple of seasons.
“But instead they went and got David Luiz, who we’ve all been laughing about for the last five or six years.”
TBR’s view – Arsenal lack a calm and consistent figure
Arsenal’s defence has been all over the show this season, and those featuring regularly have been far too rash.

The likes of Luiz and Sokratis have been far too erratic, and it is clear the Gunners need a calming influence at the back.
£80,000-a-week star Evans () is playing superbly for high flying Leicester City – he would have been an absolutely ideal signing for Arsenal, and they should have snapped him up when they had the chance in 2018.
