Dean Ashton admits excitement over West Ham addition of Jarrod Bowen
Dean Ashton has claimed that West Ham’s January signing Jarrod Bowen is a brilliant addition to the club and believes there is plenty more to come from him after a positive start at the London Stadium.
The Hammers splashed out £22million () in the January window to sign the English attacker from Championship outfit Hull City and he’s settled quickly at his new club.
After being used as a substitute in his first two West Ham appearances, he’s followed that up with back-to-back starts in the league and scored in the win over Southampton.
It looks like the left-footed winger has quickly made himself an important part of the set-up under manager David Moyes and will have a role to play in the club’s fight against relegation, as they currently only sit outside the bottom three on goal difference.
Ashton is really excited about the individual ability of Bowen, who he also recognises as a “grafter’ with an immense work-rate.
“For me, he’s probably my favourite West Ham signing for as long as I can remember, to be honest,”
“I’m glad West Ham took a chance on him, and I think there is plenty more development in him as well. He can make a difference and he’s done that in the games he has played so far.”
“If you watch him play, he’s got great ability, he makes clever runs and he can finish, but also he’s a grafter. He might lose the ball a few times but, I tell you what, he will turn around and chase it and battle and scrap and that’s exactly what West Ham is all about and every player should have those attributes.”

TBR’s View:
Bowen has made the kind of start in a West Ham shirt that many expected and he was clearly a class above during his time in the Championship, so to get a big-money move in January was well deserved.
He scored 17 goals across all competitions during the first half of the season for Hull before his exit and looks a natural finisher, so West Ham should feel confident of avoiding relegation if he can recreate the same kind of goalscoring form.
It looks like he’s starting to build a partnership in the final third with new teammates Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio, which certainly looks an exciting combination on paper.
