‘Deal in place’: Romano claims ‘world-class’ striker linked with Arsenal now closing in on Serie A move

Arsenal have been linked with Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic at various points over the past few months.

Back in March, claimed that the Gunners had ‘moved’ for the striker, along with Everton.

And in April, reported that Mikel Arteta felt he could get Jovic firing goals again.

Since then, Arsenal’s interest in the Serbia international has cooled.

Little surprise really, given Eddie Nketiah has penned a new contract and Gabriel Jesus will soon join.

But if Arteta was looking for yet another addition up front, Jovic probably won’t be it.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is closing in on a move to Fiorentina.

Just a few years ago, Jovic was one of the hottest properties in European football.

Former Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter him as “a world-class striker who brings extraordinary ability” in February 2021.

Sadly things haven’t gone to plan at Real, but this does not mean he has got worse – sometimes it’s just one of those things.

Jovic is in real need of a change of scenery, and finally it looks as though he’ll be getting it at Fiorentina.

And while he’d have been a good shout for Arsenal, there’s no doubting Jesus is a much better option.

The Brazil international is proven at Premier League level and has been consistently great for Manchester City.
