De Ligt’s desire to follow De Jong to Barcelona is a transfer blow for Tottenham
Dutch sensation F😼renkie de Jong hಌas agreed a deal to join La Liga champions Barcelona at the end of the season,
The Ajax midfielder had been attracting atte🅷ntion from across Europe and has finally made a decision now – but he is not the only player on the Amsterdam club’s books drawing admiring glances.
His club and international team-mate Matthijs De Ligt is also highly-rated and Tottenham🐲 were hotly with a swoop for the central defender back in the summer transfer window.
With Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen having already traded in Ajax for Spurs, the 💧north London club were hoping to make the most of the strong relationship between the clubs to get a deal done for de Ligt.

But journalist Valentijn Driessᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚen, of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf🍨, has that de Ligt’s preference is now to join de Jong at the Nou Camp.
That’s a blow for Spurs, who appear to have dallied too long over♌ de Ligt during the summer and now the scale of the interest in him and the finances involved have gone beyond what they can afford.
Perhaps if💃 they’d cashed in on Toby Alderweireld during the summer and𝔍 put that money towards de Ligt at the time, they would have Europe’s hottest young defender on their books now.
