Davy Klaassen and Yannick Bolasie send messages to Everton loanee after goal
Everton defender Mason Holgate scored his second ever professional goal on Wednesday for loan side West Brom in a 3-0 win over Swansea City – which prompted reactions from Yannick Bolasie and Davy Klaassen.
Holgate, 22, has starred for the Baggies since joining the Championship side on loan in January. He has already clocked up 10 league games, helping his side win five times.
In that time, he has played at both centre-back and right-back, helped West Brom keep four clean sheets and even provided three assists of his own. Now, he has a goal to add to that.
Indeed, Holgate climbed highest to head home West Brom’s second from a corner in a convincing win at the Hawthorns. Former Everton star Klaassen – now at Werder Bremen, and Bolasie – on loan at Anderlecht – reacted to his Instagram post.
TBR’s view
We are finally seeing the kind of Holgate that Everton fans watched in glimpses under Sam Allardyce. He had no chance of breaking into Marco Silva’s side after the signings of Kurt Zouma and Yerry Mina.
Playing either right-back or centre-back, Holgate has been excellent for the Baggies. If he returns to Everton in the summer, he is likely to have plenty of interest in his services – from the Premier League and Championship.
West Brom will be hoping they can gain promotion to the Premier League in order to tempt the England youth international to stay.
