David Weir has labelled Nathan Patterson outstanding following Rangers’ defeat at Ibrox on Thursday, while he also praised Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Connor Goldson – .
It proved to be a hugely disappointing night for the Gers. They were knocked out of the Europa League by Slavia Prague, with the visitors winning 2-0 on the night.

Weir however, felt that a number of players could hold their heads up high. And the former Rangers defender suggested that he was particularly impressed by the youngster at right-back.
He also went on to name three others who did well.

“He was outstanding,” , while talking about Patterson. “For a young player three or four games into his Rangers career, to perform like that on the big stage.
“And there were good performances, Glen Kamara playing in about four different positions. The ground he must have covered tonight was fantastic. Steve Davis, Connor Goldson, some really strong performances.”
Patterson has been a revelation since coming into the fold lately. Perhaps he has been motivated by the headlines he partially inspired for the wrong reasons earlier this year.
But he is making the most of his opportunities. And it does appear that the Gers are in safe hands at right-back when James Tavernier is not available.
As for Rangers, they can take a lot of positives from their run to the last 16. And they are now going to be able to set their sights much higher when they return to European action next season.
