David Thompson reacts as Liverpool reportedly agree sale of Rhian Brewster
David Thompson believes Liverpool are about to complete a great piece of business, as they are reportedly close to selling forward Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United.
, the Reds have agreed to the sale of their 20-year-old talent and he’s set for a medical on Friday ahead of his move to a Premier League rival.
The report explains that the striker’s move is set to be worth up to £23.5million and it’s close to completion, plus Liverpool have agreed a 15 per cent sell-on clause and a buy-back clause that lasts three years.
Brewster has had a brief taste of Liverpool first-team action with four senior appearances since his step up from the academy, but it looks like he’s moving on from Anfield in pursuit of regular minutes.
The young English centre-forward scored 11 goals in 22 appearances in the second half of last season for Swansea City in the Championship, which has really helped elevate his reputation.
Ex-Reds midfielder Thompson has claimed that it’s an excellent piece of transfer business for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
That’s a hell of a deal for Liverpool 😳 23 million plus 15% sell on

TBR’s View:
It certainly looks a good deal on paper for Liverpool to sell a player with zero Premier League experience for £20million-plus, but if he does make the step up like many expect they have a buy-back clause to bring him back to Merseyside in the future.
He showed during Swansea that he’s a natural finisher around the penalty area and he’s impressed at various youth level on the international stage with England.
Liverpool do have cover for first-choice centre-back Roberto Firmino with versatile attacker Diogo Jota and Takumi Minamino, but it does seem they are a little light in that area.
