David Sullivan comments on Grady Diangana West Ham sale
West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has claimed there are “no regrets” over the decision to sell Grady Diagana this summer from West Brom.
The 22-year-old is a highly-rated attacker to come out of the Hammers academy and many expected him to break into the first-team fully at the London Stadium this season, as he had a brilliant loan spell at West Brom last year.
But the winger was sold to the Baggies in this window to help raise transfer funds and he’s looking like an important player for a team he helped obtain promotion last season.
The English speedster scored in West Brom’s league game at the weekend and will be looking to prove his top-flight quality at his new club, something which has massively frustrated a large chunk of supporters.
Sullivan has commented on the sale of Diangana and believes the club have made the right call in offloading their youngster.
“No regrets. It was a decision we made because we have eight wingers. I’ve got agents offering wingers and I said no. Robert Snodgrass played in holding midfield, Felipe Anderson, Yarmolenko. We’ve got an unbalanced squad. Now we’ve got the funds to buy a player or two,”

TBR’s View:
West Ham may have several options within the squad to fill the wide positions, but it seemed a no-brainer to integrate Diangana into the side this season following on from his impressive performances in the Championship.
The left-winger scored eight goals and supplied seven assists in 31 games across all competitions last season for West Brom, plus he’s a rising talent with massive potential.
He has been sold for £18million (d), which in the current market looks like it could end up being a real bargain for West Brom and potentially bad business for the Irons.
