David Prutton offers thoughts on Garry Monk’s appointment at Sheffield Wednesday
Two new managers will go head to head when Huddersfield face Sheffield Wednesday in a Yorkshire derby on Sunday afternoon, in Danny Cowley and Garry Monk.
Cowley may well have been in the away dugout had things panned out slightly differently, but former Owls midfielder David Prutton feels his old club has made a good choice.
As per : “What a moment this will be for Danny Cowley and his brother Nicky, managing a side that were in the Premier League last season, having been PE teachers and part-time managers just a few years ago.
“In the opposite dugout will be Garry Monk, who, apart from perhaps his time at Middlesbrough, has left every club he has been at in a better position than where he found it. I think he will be a very good fit at Sheffield Wednesday and he will start with a win. Just! 1-2.”

TBR’s View – Monk has a better chance of being successful than Cowley does in his new job
Monk has proved himself a very solid manager at Championship level – apart from at Boro, as Prutton acknowledged, but nobody else has since been able to get them back on the promotion trail either.
He is great at getting a group of players united and buying into his style of play. The Cowleys have had an exceptional rise at Lincoln but it looks like they’ve picked the wrong time to jump and the wrong job to jump into.
Huddersfield and Lincoln could easily swap places at the end of the season. One is in a losing habit, the other has got upward momentum.
