David Prutton believes Middlesbrough star Daniel Ayala would be a good signing for Leeds
that he can see Leeds United completing a move to sign Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala in the January window, after reports claimed Leeds want to sign the Spanish star.
that Leeds are taking a look at the 29-year-old defender, who has entered the final year of his contract and could be allowed to leave for a bargain fee in January – if Boro look to bring in some cash for his services.
It is believed that the ex-Liverpool academy player is still wanted at Boro, and former Leeds player Jonathan Woodgate – who is Boro boss – is keen to offer Ayala a new deal and keep him away from Leeds’ clutches.
But with Boro down the bottom of the Championship table and Leeds sitting in third and fighting for automatic promotion, Ayala could be on the move. Former Leeds midfielder Prutton believes he would be a good signing.

“Ben White has done tremendously well, Liam Cooper has had his injury concerns, but I think Coops has been a great servant,” . “I think competition from a player such as that would be extremely healthy.
“Given how he understands the top end of the division and how to get out of it, I think that would be something that the management (at Leeds) would look at. It doesn’t strike me as something that would be beyond the realms of possibility.”
TBR’s view – Ayala would be an excellent signing for Leeds
Ayala has all the tools needed to be a good signing for Leeds. His contract situation would make him a bargain signing, while his Championship experience would make him a crucial addition to the side. He has played 206 times in England’s second tier.
Not only that, but Leeds need another centre-back as cover for White and Cooper. The cherry on the top is that Ayala has won promotion from the Championship before, making him the perfect addition in Leeds’ pursuit of promotion.
