David Pleat says it might be time for Tottenham to sell their ‘world class’ player
Tottenham have had to make some tough decisions on some truly brilliant players in recent years.
Last year, Tottenham sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich as the player wanted to go and win trophies elsewhere, while prior to Kane’s departure, Spurs also let the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld leave, while Hugo Lloris departed soon after Kane.
Spurs have refreshed their squad in recent times, but one player from the Mauricio Pochettino era still remains – Heung-Min Son.
Son has been at Tottenham for almost 10 years now, and at the age of 32, his powers may be waning slightly.
Indeed, Jamie O’Hara no longer thinks Son is a world class player, while Son’s contract situation remains up in the air.
Speaking on The Joy of Football, David Pleat has been discussing Son’s situation, and the Spurs legend pondered whether it was now finally time for Spurs to cash-in on Son.

David Pleat suggests Heung-Min Son should be sold
Pleat shared his verdict on what should happen with Son.
The pundit says that it may now be the best time for Spurs to sell Son in order to maximise their potential profit.
“To recognise the time when it’s time to go. It would be fascinating to see this season at the end, which has a few months to go, what Tottenham do with Son. There’s a lot of talk about him getting an extra year,” Pleat said.
“But I just wonder whether, if they can agree it with another club, might be the best time to maximise on that. Just my opinion.”
Heung-Min Son stats this season
Pleat suggests that it may be time for Son to be sold by Tottenham, but the stats suggest that the South Korean is still an important player for Spurs.
Son has been described as ‘world class’ in the not so distant past.
While Son’s goal output isn’t quite what it was when he won the Golden Boot a few years ago. He’s still putting up very solid numbers.

Son is still contributing massively to this Tottenham team, and that’s in spite of the fact he’s struggled for fitness this season.
Yes, at the age of 32, Son isn’t going to get any better, but he’s still a vital player in this side.
Son is also a brilliant character behind-the-scenes, and that shouldn’t be undervalued either.
Indeed, Archie Gray has hailed Son for his leadership abilities, and you don’t want to upset the applecart by selling your club captain, especially when there’s not necessarily a ready-made replacement within the squad.
Saudi Arabian clubs are keen on Son, so if a big offer comes in, perhaps it should be considered, but Tottenham shouldn’t be actively marketing their skipper.
