David Ornstein suggests Dan Ashworth could try to sign £80m Premier League attacker for Man United

Dan Ashworth could try to bring Wolves No.7 Pedro Neto to Manchester United once he begins his duties at Old Trafford.

That is according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

So, what is the situation involving Pedro Neto and Manchester United? Let’s take a look…

Dan Ashworth could bring Pedro Neto to Manchester United

Well, the 52-year-old is currently on gardening leave after telling Newcastle he wants to become Director of Football at Old Trafford, with the Magpies demanding £20m, according to the .

Whenever Ashworth officially starts work at Manchester United, he could try to sign Neto – a player Newcastle are interested in.

Ornstein in The Athletic: “It is no secret that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United (perhaps Manchester United, too, with Dan Ashworth moving there from Newcastle) are all admirers of the Portugal international, although they may harbour some reservations about his fitness record.

“It would also take around £80m for Wolves to part with Neto, as I understand it.”

The Portugal international – who is also a target for Tottenham – has enjoyed a stunning campaign at Wolves so far this season, scoring goals while also providing 11 assists in just 19 appearances.

One of those three strikes looked to have secured a 3-3 draw against Manchester United at Molineux before a special goal from Kobbie Mainoo snatched a 4-3 win.

Newcastle would not be happy

Newcastle are already believed to be furious at Ashworth’s decision to leave for Manchester United, so the Magpies would certainly not be pleased if the Director of Football started to encroach on transfer targets as well.

Neto is a remarkable footballer – in hindsight, Manchester United probably should have signed him instead of Antony – and Newcastle would surely be devastated to miss out on him.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the 23-year-old could be in line for a big move this summer.
