David Ornstein shares how likely it is Tottenham will sign Jean-Clair Todibo
Tottenham are being linked with a whole host of defenders heading into January, with Jean-Clair Todibo a name who keeps cropping up.
Indeed, reports this week have suggested that talks have already started over a deal to bring Todibo to Tottenham.
Other names are also getting a mention, though. Alessandro Buongiorno is a name who has been linked, while Radu Dragusin has also been tipped as a player Ange Postecoglou likes.
Of course, of those names, d Todibo has appeared to be the one closest to being done.
But according to David Ornstein, that isn’t necessarily the case.
Tottenham unlikely to sign Jean-Clair Todibo
Writing in his latest piece for where he previews the January window, Ornstein has said that as of now, Todibo is unlikely to join Tottenham.
“The priority is a centre-back and a lot of work is being done. Names such as Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo are in the public domain but it is doubtful the France international defender will join Spurs this winter,” Ornstein wrote.

Expect Spurs to act quickly
We saw in the summer when the deal for Harry Kane eventually got done that Tottenham didn’t really mess around too much.
They got James Maddison in quickly in the summer anyway, before acting smartly to bring in both Brennan Johnson and Micky van de Ven as well. Likewise, goalkeeper Vicario was also a done deal in fairly rapid time.
In January, then, we should expect Spurs to identify players and make their move quickly. Remember, they are still armed with money from the Kane deal and given the start under Postecoglou, Daniel Levy will want to back his new man ASAP.
With that in mind, if Todibo is off the table, then we should expect someone else pretty quickly. There are a number of names out there who Spurs could move for, so missing out on Todibo won’t be the end of the world.
