David Ornstein says Arsenal are trying to get ‘talented’ player signed up quickly now

Transfers move at a strange pace sometimes.

Long sagas can explode into life in an instant, and that’s what appears to have happened on Saturday morning with Arsenal and Riccardo Calafiori.

The Italian defender has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the best part of a month now. Personal terms were said to be agreed between Calafiori and Arsenal two weeks ago, but, since then, things had gone rather quiet.

However, on Saturday morning it was reported that there had been a breakthrough in talks between Bologna and Arsenal, and now, things seem to be hurtling towards a conclusion.

According to David Ornstein, Arsenal are now working to get this deal done as quickly as possible.

Arsenal trying to sign Riccardo Calafiori quickly

According to Ornstein, Arsenal have hit the accelerator on this move and are looking to get Calafiori through the door as quickly as they can.

Ornstein notes that other elite clubs are looking for players of a similar profile, so Arsenal are looking to negate the risk of any hijack.

A hijack does seem unlikely at this point. After all, this saga has dragged on for a while, and Calafiori has apparently given his word to Mikel Arteta that he will sign.

Arsenal signing Calafiori quickly is a good thing

It’s good to hear that Arsenal are pushing to get this deal done quickly.

Pre-season has already begun, and Calafiori will want to get into the swing of things at Arsenal as soon as possible to gel with his new teammates and impress his new manager.

Calafiori will now have plenty of time before the start of the season to get up to speed, and who knows?
