Respected Athletic journalist, David Ornstein, has said that Arsenal are ‘pushing’ to try and sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this January, but there remain a number of obstacles in the way for now.
Vlahovic has emerged as the very top attacking target for Arsenal. Reports in recent weeks have continually linked him with a switch to London. Today, too, reports have suggested not only that Arsenal are willing pay big money, but also that Fiorentina are willing to sell immediately.

And according to David Ornstein, it is true that Arsenal are hoping to get their hands on Vlahovic this month.
“Vlahovic is going to be really difficult. They’re pushing hard, or they have been pushing hard. Although I’ve not been made aware of any progress in recent days,” Ornstein said on the .
“They have indicated it’s the sort of level they’re prepared to go to. Which you can imagine can only be done with owner support. But it’s going to come down to the player, and his agent. Fiorentina are of the view that Vlahovic doesn’t want to go to Arsenal or Tottenham and the agent is said to be heavily involved. He has a strong influence over the destination. From what I hear, the Fiorentina/Arsenal bit will not be the problem. The player’s side is tricky.”
Vlahovic is one of Europe’s hottest properties at the moment. He has continued his fine form from last season and has already hit 16 goals in 20 Serie A appearances.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Seem Serious On Dusan Vlahovic
Despite the stance from the player and his agent, it does seem like Arsenal are determined to get a deal done for Vlahovic if they can. They are willing to spend, and it seems they see him as their main man.
Ornstein’s update here is an interesting one. Arsenal he says, are pushing. It’s also clear that they have the money and that suggests big faith in Mikel Arteta.
If they do land Vlahovic, then Edu and co will deserve huge credit.
