David Ornstein names the striker Liverpool would immediately look at signing if Darwin Nunez leaves
This summer transfer window could be very interesting from a Liverpool perspective.
Indeed, as the reigning Premier League champions, a number of top players will🐓 surely be keen to sign for Liverpool, and the Reds should have plenty of money to spend.
Let’s not forget, Liverpool bid £111m for Moises Caicedo back in 2023, while they were ready to spend big on Martin Zubimendi last summer too.
Both of those deals fell through, and the Reds should have plenty of cash to spare tꦫhiꩲs summer to add to this already incredible squad.
Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool, 💃and if Nunez does leave Anfield, the Reds may well need a new number nine🗹.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing which striker Liverpool may look at if Nunez does leave, and he says that Alexander Isak is the Reds’ dream target.

Liverpool would want Alexander Isak
Ornstein shared what he knows about Liver🍨pool and t🐬heir potential search for a new striker.
The journalist says that Liverpool would look at Alexander Isꦅak this summer, but there’s an acknowledgement that a deal will be difficult to do.
Arsenal have also been linked with Isak recently.
“I’ll start on the striker picking u💃p from Andy. The💮re is an expectation that Darwin Nunez will leave and so Liverpool will need to bring somebody in in that position, you assume. It’s scary to think if Liverpool manage to get a goal scorer, what on earth they could do in domestic and European competition,” Ornstein said.
“I do think Isak would be the one that Liverpool would look to as would Arsenal, Michael Arteta and many other clubs. It’s les𝓰s realistic to think it’s go𒊎ing to happen though because if Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, I think it’s not even a conversation.
“If they don’t qualify for the Champions League, maybe there is a window of opportunity but I don’t think it really changes the price much of the transfer fee, let alone the salary request and agents’ commissions and any club that’s going to commit to that 🐽level of resource, if indeed there’s any opportunity, is bas♓ically going to use all of their budget on that player.”

In an ideal world, Liverpool would sell Nunez and sign Isak this summer, and it has to be said, that’s quit🌱e the upgrade.
Indeed, Nunez has been heavily criticised this season, while Isak may be the best striker in the world at this point.

Liverpool will certainly have plenty to s𒈔pend this summer, but, as Ornstein says, it would take up almost the entire budget of any team to sign Isak at this juncture.
