David Ornstein explains why Tottenham decided against signing Christian Eriksen

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed why Tottenham Hotspur decided not to sign Christian Eriksen this summer before he joined Manchester United.
The Dane 𝄹spent six-and-a-half years at Spurs and was a fan favourite. He played 305 times for the North Londoners, was directly involved in 159 goals, and helped improve Tottenham massively during his time there.
After a short spell at Brentford, Eriksen was available on a free transfer this summer, and unsurprisingly, Spurs were among the teams heavily linked with a move to sign him.
Thatཧ move didn’t materialise, and Ornstein h💖as now revealed the real reason why.
David Ornstein explains why Tottenham didn’t sign Christian Eriksen
Tottenham have had an excellent transfer window so far. Antonio Conte demanded multiﷺple new signings thi꧟s summer, and Daniel Levy has obliged.
Spurs have brought in Ivဣan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence so far in what has been a truly sensational summer trans♛fer window.
A new number 10 is the next position Conte reportedly wants filled, and Eriksen would’ve been a ‘spectacular‘ signing for th𓆏at role. However, Ornstein has revealed that the Dane’s demands were well beyond what Spurs were ready to offer, which is why they walked away from the deal.
He said in a video on : “We know that they made an enq🉐uiry for Christian Eriksen to scope out what he would’ve wanted to come back. It didn’t materialise.
“I🅷t’s my understanding he wanted a contract length and size, financially, that was probably not what Tottenham wanted to do. He has ended up at Manchester United.”

TBR View:
Tottenham fans know how good Eriksen is.
The Dan♔e, even though he’s 30 now, is still a sensational footballer, and he would’ve offered so much to this Spurs side if they 🌸had convinced him to return to the club.
Conte, Levy and co decided against it in the end and Manchester United snappꦿed himꦓ up. He could prove to be a fine signing for the Red Devils, who, like Spurs, struggled for creativity at times last season.
It will be interesting to see how Eriksen will fare this term. If he impresses, Tottenham may end up regrett♌ing their decision to walk awa𒐪y from the deal.
