David Moyes names the two Man United players he was worried about when facing them with West Ham
Manchester United have made a really poor start to the new Premier League season.
As a result, Erik ten Hag has been sacked by Man United with Sporting’s promising young coach Ruben Amorim set to become his successor.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
11 | 10 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 10 | 10 | 0 | 15 | |
12 | 10 | 4 | 1 | 5 | 19 | 20 | -1 | 13 | |

15 | 10 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 14 | 18 | -4 | 10 |
Amorim has a supremely talented squad to work with and many still feel Man United can qualify for the Champions League this season.
Rasmus Hojlund could benefit the most from his appointment after seeing what the Portuguese coach has done with Viktor Gyokeres – making him one of Europe’s most deadly strikers.
Though, his back three could also favour Harry Maguire, who David Moyes has been waxing lyrical about in a recent podcast with Gary Neville and co.

David Moyes says Harry Maguire is an absolute ‘monster’
Speaking on the , David Moyes described Harry Maguire as a ‘monster’ and said he feared when his sides came up against him due to his aerial threat in both boxes.
“Man United defensively, when Harry Maguire was in the team, were really difficult to deal with Maguire at set pieces,” Moyes explained.
“He was a monster. Both boxes. You were thinking how are we going to stop Harry Maguire getting on the end of things?
“Are we going to keep the ball away from him? But we always felt we would have room to play, Old Trafford, big pitch.
“You could take the ball off United and you would have a chance of playing. I don’t think they really have the best press. Some of the teams in the Premier League have super presses.”
Moyes also found Bruno Fernandes difficult to play against
Moyes also admitted that he feared coming up against Man United playmaker Bruno Fernandes.
“I think Bruno was the one you were always worried about because he could play a pass through, he could put somebody in.
“Defensively you always thought if we get enough of the ball. We have gone there and found it difficult to win but we have also gone there and thought we have actually played quite well in some of the games.
“But we are challenging probably a team that were expected to win.”
Interestingly though, Moyes was able to keep Fernandes quiet against West Ham – as he failed to score in 10 games, laying on just two assists.
So clearly his fear was actually a good thing in this instance as it forced him to come up with a match plan to eliminate Fernandes’ threat.
