David Luiz’s potential shock move to Arsenal would be bad news for Everton in Fikayo Tomori pursuit

In one of the more shocking moves that appears to be on the cards today, Chelsea defender David Luiz is set to join Arsenal. the Brazilian trained away from the rest of the Chelsea first-team yesterday with a deal to Arsenal set to be concluded today. 

that the one-time most expensive defender in the world is set to join Arsenal for just £8 million. 

This development could, however, be bad news for Everton. 

Everton, have been hopeful of bringing in Kurt Zouma throughout the summer. 

The Frenchman thrived on loan at Goodison Park last season. However, new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is a fan of Zouma and it appears that deal is off the table.

However, Everton were hopeful of bringing in a different Chelsea centre-back. England under-21 international Fikayo Tomori was superb under Lampard at Derby County last season. , the youngster was considered an alternative for Everton.

With the likes of Luiz, Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger present, first-team opportunities were looking sparse at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, a loan move seemed likely. 

However, with Luiz gone it is hard to see how Chelsea can go on next season without keeping Tomori in the first-team squad.

It could be this shock move from Luiz leaves Everton hunting elsewhere for a new central defender.
