David Luiz shares title aspiration for Arsenal this season
Arsenal defender David Luiz has revealed his target is to be fighting for the Premier League title this season.
He completed an £8million () move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer from Chelsea and has walked straight into the starting XI for the Gunners.
He brings a great deal of experience to the backline, as the Brazilian previously won the top-flight crown with Chelsea.
The 32-year-old wants to see the North London club competing at the top end of the table this campaign and is optimistic over the amount of quality in the squad.
Arsenal currently sit third in the current table with 15 points from eight games, but leaders Liverpool are already nine points ahead of them and Manchester City are still yet to hit top gear.
“For me, if you start something, and we’ve just started the Premier League and all of the competitions, if you don’t think you can win the competition then you won’t start anything in your life,”
“I think we’ve started really well and we just lost one game in the Premier League. I think the team is improving and now we are in third in the table but we want to finish this season fighting for the title.”

TBR’s View:
Unai Emery has made improvements at Arsenal so far, while they should only improve when Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin come into the starting XI.
But it’s far too soon to suggest they can be in the title mix and they are a long way off the main challengers.
Arsenal finished 28 points behind last season’s champions Manchester City and it’s clear the top two in the division are miles in front of the rest.
Luiz’s positive comments should spur on his teammates in the dressing room and he’s an experienced centre-back that is used to winning silverware.
