David Luiz reacts on Instagram after Arsenal star confirms big blow this summer
David Luiz sent a message of support to Gabriel Magalhaes on Instagram after it was confirmed that the Arsenal defender will miss the Olympics due to a knee injury.
Gabriel is yet to make his international debut for the full Brazil side. However, he had initially been included alongside Gabriel Martinelli for Tokyo.

Obviously, it is fantastic for the pair to be selected for their country at such a prestigious event. But of course, Arsenal fans may have been disappointed to learn that both would likely miss the start of the season.
However, Gabriel is now set to miss out.

The centre-back confirmed on his Instagram that he will miss the Games. He did note that the knee injury was nothing serious.
However, he also suggested that he would no longer be able to fulfil a dream…
Unsurprisingly, many sent messages of support to the 23-year-old. And one of those to reach out was Luiz.
Luiz played alongside his countryman during his final year at the Emirates. And he wished him well as he now looks to recover, replying: ‘Strength Brother’.

Arsenal will be relieved Gabriel has not suffered serious injury after Olympics withdrawal
Mikel Arteta faces a tricky start to the season. Of course, Luiz has now left. Meanwhile, there are doubts over William Saliba’s future.
Ben White has been heavily linked with a move. But reports claimed that he is only expected to join after Euro 2020. So he may not be ready for the start of the new campaign.
So losing Gabriel to the Olympics may not have been ideal for Arsenal.
Clearly, they would have hoped that he would get the chance to shine on that stage. So they will be just as disappointed that he is injured.
But they will be relieved to hear that the problem is not serious. Perhaps that may even mean that he may ultimately be back sooner than he would have been had he gone to the Far East.
