David Luiz praises Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli’s mentality during debut season
David Luiz has praised his fellow Arsenal summer signing Gabriel Martinelli for his mentality, which he says puts his countryman ahead of his fellow young players.
As per , Luiz refused to say who was the most talented player among the young cohort available to Unai Emery but singled out his fellow Brazilian for his mental approach.
He : “I always say, talents, I have seen many, but great mentality, I didn’t see many. And who arrives far? It’s great mentality, not just talent. I’m not going to say to you about who is the most talented [at Arsenal], but the best mentality at the moment is Martinelli. He is so mature for his age.
“He has a great mentality, especially because I know Brazilians at 18 years old. He’s a top guy, a top player, but what makes me more impressed is the mentality in the training ground, the way he reacts after he scores goals. [After] scoring at Anfield, he continues to work, not asking already, ‘I have to play, I have to play’. This is a great mentality.”
TBR’s View – Martinelli looks a real find and appears happy to stay patient
Martinelli must have known when joining a club with such firepower that he would have to wait his turn for first team action and Luiz’s comments show he is keeping his feet on the ground.
He just needs to carry on working hard and taking his chances in the cups when they come and with him and Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal have some serious young striking talent on the books.
